A rare and striking Victorian Partner's Desk, transformed into a truly bespoke statement piece through specialist refinishing. Originally crafted in the late 19th century, this imposing desk has been carefully preserved and artistically reimagined to suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Product Description
This desk is finished in a hand-mixed bespoke navy blue, using environmentally friendly Frenchic paints with minimal VOCs, fully EN:71-3 certified for safety and sustainability. The finish has been layered with dark wax and sealed with clear wax, giving the desk a rich depth of tone and an aged patina that enhances its Victorian character.
The true centrepiece is the desk top, which has undergone a meticulous and time-intensive process. The central panel features a genuine vintage ordinance survey map of the Yorkshire Dales, paying homage to the desk's heritage and creating a one-of-a-kind executive surface. This map is mounted on a thin cork base for subtle texture, then sealed and layered multiple times with a clear matt waterproof gloss. The result is a durable, practical, and waterproof working surface that retains the integrity of the map while adding a refined executive quality.
The desk retains its original brass cup handles, which complement the new finish beautifully and preserve its authenticity. True to the partner's desk design, it provides storage for two users with six drawers and one cabinet on each side - a highly functional layout offering ample space for organisation.
Traditionally designed for both decorative impact and practicality, this piece has been finished by a skilled craftsman with years of experience in furniture restoration, ensuring it is not only beautiful but also made to last.
