A charming mid-century tub armchair, likely dating from the 1950s, with elegant proportions and a fully sprung seat construction.

The chair features a classic rounded tub form with gently flared arms and a supportive curved back. Raised on tapering wooden legs, the silhouette is unmistakably mid-century — compact, sculptural and inviting. The underside reveals a traditional coil-sprung seat base, demonstrating quality period upholstery methods and offering an excellent foundation for restoration.

Currently upholstered in a floral fabric with decorative fringe trim, the chair would benefit from reupholstery, making it an ideal candidate for an upcycling project. The proportions and spring structure make it particularly well suited to a contemporary fabric, bouclé, velvet or a bold print, depending on the desired finish.

Structurally, the frame and springs present as solid, providing a strong base for transformation.

A rewarding project piece with genuine mid-century character.
