Poul Cadovius Royal System Teak Modular Wall Units

An exceptional Royal System modular wall unit designed by Poul Cadovius, a defining figure in Danish modern design. Elegant, architectural and supremely functional, this configuration exemplifies the clarity and intelligence that made Cadovius’ wall mounted systems revolutionary in post war interiors.
Introduced in 1948, the Royal System reimagined storage by lifting furniture from the floor and utilising vertical space. Produced under the Cado name, these modular systems allowed owners to create bespoke arrangements tailored to their needs. The refined teak construction, slim wall rails and floating cabinets embody the Danish modern ethos of lightness, proportion and flexibility.
This particular arrangement includes a desk with hidden drawer, two cocktail or storage cabinets, one bureau cabinet, a double glazed display cabinet and four open shelves. The three drop down cabinets are supported by original tan leather straps, adding both structural integrity and subtle material contrast. Four wall rails are included, allowing the system to be assembled as one expansive installation or divided into two smaller compositions.
Crafted in teak with beautifully matched grain, the cabinetry offers generous concealed storage while maintaining a visually light presence. The integrated desk provides a practical workspace without compromising the overall sculptural balance of the system.
Increasingly sought after in complete and versatile configurations, Royal System installations of this scale and condition are highly desirable for collectors and design led interiors alike.
