Victorian Walnut Chaise Longue in Neutral Chenille
Couldn't load pickup availability
A striking Victorian chaise longue dating to the late nineteenth century, raised on beautifully carved walnut legs with bold turned and fluted detailing. Rich in presence and confident in silhouette, it carries the unmistakable visual weight of high quality Victorian upholstery.
Crafted in warm toned walnut, the frame features elegant scrolled arms, carved foliate decoration and a serpentine back rail — classic hallmarks of refined nineteenth century design. Such carved walnut examples were typically found in higher status homes, reflecting the era’s appreciation for bold form and ornate craftsmanship.
Recently reupholstered in a soft neutral chenille fabric, the piece now balances traditional structure with a more contemporary palette. The subtle texture of the fabric adds depth without overpowering the carved detailing, allowing the walnut frame to remain a focal point. The generous proportions and shaped back create both decorative impact and genuine comfort.
Designed originally as a statement parlour piece for reclining rather than formal seating, the chaise longue remains as relevant today as ever — equally at home in a period setting or adding contrast within a modern interior.
