Qing-Style Elmwood Cabinet with Fretwork and Floral Panels

A vintage Qing-style elmwood cabinet with four doors, internal shelves and decorative fretwork. Four hand-painted floral panels enliven the upper doors, while the timber retains a warm aged patina. The design references Chinese decorative traditions; the listing does not establish manufacture during the Qing dynasty.

This cabinet is perfect for use as a kitchen cabinet, but it could also be used in a living room, entryway, or even as a bathroom vanity. It is a versatile piece of furniture that will add a touch of elegance to any room.

The top two doors have four panels adorning beautiful hand-painted floral patterns on them. They carry symbolic significance, meaning:

Top Left: Tzu, representing modesty.

Top Right: Mei, representing a flower that blooms in the winter and is thus unafraid of difficulties.

Bottom Left: Ju, representing a flower that is long lasting and thus someone who is courageous and fearless.

Bottom Right: Lan, representing a mountain flower referring to elegance.
