Stag Mahogany Open Bookcase with Drawer, 1980s

A well proportioned mahogany open bookcase by Stag Furniture, dating to the 1980s and crafted in richly toned timber with a deep, warm finish. Classic in outline and practical in scale, it offers balanced storage with enduring traditional appeal. By the late twentieth century, Stag’s mahogany ranges were designed to echo earlier Georgian and Regency influences, combining historic styling with modern durability. This example reflects that philosophy, with clean lines, subtle moulding and confident proportions that feel both refined and approachable. The upper section comprises two fixed shelves above a generous lower shelf, providing excellent space for books, ceramics or decorative display. Beneath sits a full width drawer constructed with solid dovetail joints and fitted with original brass ring handles, adding both functional storage and period detail. Raised on elegant bracket feet with shaped side supports, the silhouette carries a restrained Georgian revival character. A versatile piece suited to a study, living room or hallway, it is substantial enough to anchor a space while remaining visually composed. The original Stag label remains present inside the drawer, confirming authenticity.
