A 150cm executive desk in warm oak veneer and powder-coated steel, designed and built to commission by Fray Design of Cleckheaton.

This one-of-one piece was conceived for a specific client with architectural clarity and sculptural intent. It now reaches us in excellent vintage condition—structurally substantial, with light surface wear consistent with careful use in a design-conscious environment.

This is not production furniture.

The desk is formed from a substantial oak veneered top and matching geometric planes, suspended within a powder-coated steel framework. The structure is deliberately expressed rather than concealed—a quiet nod to modernist principles where materials are honoured for what they are.

From the side, the faceted base creates a striking Z-profile silhouette. Angular oak planes intersect with the steel frame to create depth, tension and balance. A triangular negative space within the base introduces lightness and architectural rhythm, preventing the mass from ever feeling heavy.

The wide overhanging top carries executive presence—calm, confident and authoritative. The warmth of the oak grain softens the precision of the steel, creating a refined contrast between organic texture and engineered form.

Live-With Details

No assembly required—the frame and top are integrated. However, the top separates easily from the steel base if your doorway or stairwell requires narrower passage. Floor-protector inserts included. Accommodates dual monitors with substantial workspace remaining.
