A rare and elegant group of 14 illuminated folios (28 pages) from an Ottoman Qur'an manuscript, dating to the late 18th-early 19th century.
Written in a fine naskh script with full diacritical marks, the text is executed in black and red ink within gilded rectangular borders. Several margins display small floral medallions delicately painted in gold, blue, and pink, typical of Ottoman Qur'anic illumination.
The sūrah headings are inscribed in white script against shimmering gold panels, marking chapter divisions with restrained elegance. Passages include Surat al-Mulk, as-Saffat, Sad, Nuh, and al-Jinn, chapters traditionally favoured for devotional recitation.
This set offers not only exquisite artistry but also substantial content: 28 pages together form a more complete and meaningful collection than isolated leaves. The craftsmanship reflects the refined devotional culture of the Ottoman Empire, where calligraphy and illumination were acts of worship in themselves.
Condition Report
Ink remains dark and sharp across all folios
Paper strong, with light toning and expected wear
