British Ducal Solid Pine Pedestal Desk with Tooled Leather Top

A charming solid pine pedestal desk by Ducal Ltd. (Andover, Hampshire, UK), crafted in the late 20th century with traditional English joinery. Ducal were renowned for their high-quality handmade pine furniture, combining durability with timeless rustic appeal.

This example features a tooled leather inset writing surface, framed with decorative gold leaf edging for both elegance and practicality. The warm, honey-coloured pine is polished to highlight its natural knots and grain, giving the piece its distinctive country house character.

The desk is designed with two pedestals of drawers (four to the left, three to the right), plus three frieze drawers across the top. Dovetail construction throughout attests to Ducal's craftsmanship. One drawer retains its original green baize lining, a thoughtful detail for stationery or valuables.

Completing the design are turned pine knobs and plinth bases with cut-out arches, blending sturdiness with understated English style.
